hello! i'm back from a holiday in europe ^_^ spring is my favourite season and it's absolutely gorgeous in the northern hemisphere. it's also my first time in europe since i was 5? i think? and my first time visiting the uk and netherlands as well. i'm so grateful to be able to travel the world!
i visited a lot of museums and basically just spent the days walking around,,, which caused me to average 20k steps a day help. it was a little chillier than i expected (spring wasn't really in full bloom yet!) but i enjoy the crisp weather. so lovely!!! april was also a fantastic month to be in amsterdam bc it's peak season for tulips :") SOOO pretty omg i wish i could articulate how happy i was to be looking at flowers all day. you won't believe how gorgeous the bulbs could be. i think i'm just a sucker for nature honestly!
okay no offence to anyone but i was lowkey dreading european food before i visited cus i thought it would be akin to greasy american food which my stomach can't really handle. but i actually loved whatever i ate in amsterdam and london!! there were definitely some things that i couldn't stomach as well - certain meats and baked goods tend to be really heavy / rich and i'm used to a lighter food profile so i ended up feeling almost intoxicated by the food HAHAHAH
my favourites were oysters and this pickled herring dish i ate! produce and meat is SO fresh over there i really relish it. ok but something i didn't appreciate as much was how expensive everything was... but i suppose you can expect that with the strength of the pound and euro anyway... so i didn't end up doing much shopping at all even though that's my favourite holiday activity LOL. just as well though cus i didn't really feel like spending too much money this trip.
i'll be going to the UK to study from this september onwards, so i hope many more europe trips will be in the cards for me! i hope to visit scandinavia and spain and greece and poland and eastern europe and the smaller countries as well like malta! so so many things to see and experience!!!
lots of love,
j
